Sia Eliza

I was born in 1982 to a carpenter/writer and midwife/homemaker.Over
the years I became a sister to 4 siblings. My birthplace and home for the first
half of my childhood was Northern California, where I spent time in the Berkeley
hills and rose gardens, backpacking in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and swimming
in the ocean. Our
summers were spent on an island off the coast of Maine, where our family would
go canoeing and walking, hunting for seashells and other treasures of the sea,
blueberry-picking and swimming.

In quest of a rich, more hands-on style of life, my family made a big move to Eastern Ohio when I was 13. We enjoyed the golden autumns and snowy winters, making new friends and delving deeper into the richness and truths of the Faith. My parents bought a little slice of good raw land, half wood and half field, in Harrison County. There they built a house and started some cover-crops… I experimented in organic gardening, did a lot of reading and became interested in the craft of pottery.I left home to travel and do au pair work, eventually becoming a potter through internships and apprenticeships. My journeys, travels and education have taken me to Scotland, England, Ireland, Italy, Appalachia, Nevada's high desert, Canada and Pennsylvania… This road, most importantly, has led me to my husband, with whom I am now making a life with, living out my long-time dream of marriage and motherhood.

We were married the Autumn of
2004 and have been blessed with 2 healthy children: Aidan going on 2 years and
little Eli a fresh, tiny babe born in March '07. We currently reside in the Pacific
North-West, close to the mountains, city and coast. We hope to one day have land
with gardens, sheep, horses, chickens… where our children can run free and get
their hands in the dirt; where I can build kilns and a studio; where we can make
a home rich in stillness, peace and goodness. But these are our dreams. For the
time being, I am putting my all into each day at a time, diaper by diaper, dish
by dish.

Being a full-time wife and mama is hard work. It is little, it is hidden. Yet it is a life full of joys and blessings, worth every sleepless night and grueling task.
PAX et BONUM, and happy mothering!
